FAQs For Weight Loss

How many days a week should I exercise?

3 – 6 depending on how you break it up

Should I eat breakfast?

Only if you are hungry. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day to NOT mess up.” - Dr. Cate Shanahan. As soon as you eat any carbs for breakfast, the fat burning mode you were most likely in from not eating over the night while sleeping comes to a screeching halt and glucose burning and possible fat storing begins. In my opinion, Do Not Eat Cereal for breakfast or any other time of day period!

How many calories should I eat per day?

A good baseline number to shoot for is your current body weight  X 10. Example: 150lbs x 10 = 1500 calories. If fat loss is your main goal, you may need to drop the calories by another 100-300.

How much protein should I eat each day?

Generally speaking, consume .70 x your lean body mass per day in grams as a minimum!!! However, I usually suggest 20-50grams more than that depending on each individual situation. Example: A 150lb. person at 20% body fat should consume about 84 grams per day. 150x.20=30. 150-30=120. 120x.70=84.

What should my fasting/morning blood sugar be?

Between 70-89mg/dl

What should my heart rate be when doing cardio?

No more than 180 – your age

How long should my strength training workout last?

30-45 minutes

How many carbs should I eat each day for weight loss?

Generally speaking, keeping it below 150 grams per day is ideal but less than 100 grams is better!

Does eating fat make you fat?

Generally speaking, no. However, eating more calories than your body needs may end up in that excess being stored as fat. Eating more carbs than your body needs will definitely result in body fat storage because of its limited storage capacity within our body.
